Notices on the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)
After use, electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of in unsorted municipal waste (household waste), but must be collected separately. Waste equipment may contain harmful substances that can damage the environment and human health.
Disposal of electrical and electronic equipment
The crossed-out wheeled bin means that you are legally obliged to dispose of this equipment in a collection separate from unsorted municipal waste. Disposal via the residual waste bin or the yellow bin is prohibited. If the products contain batteries or accumulators that are not permanently installed, these must be removed prior to disposal and disposed of separately as batteries.
Options for returning waste equipment
Owners of waste equipment can hand it in free of charge at the return or collection facilities established and available through public waste management authorities (i.e., municipal recycling/materials recovery centers) to ensure the proper disposal of the waste equipment. Furthermore, you can also return electrical or electronic equipment free of charge to all Mercedes-Benz branches under the following conditions:
- When purchasing a new piece of electrical or electronic equipment of the same type that essentially fulfills the same functions as the new equipment;
- Small appliances that are no larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension, regardless of the purchase of an electrical or electronic appliance (max. three waste appliances per type of appliance).
Data Protection
We advise all end users of waste electrical and electronic equipment that they are themselves responsible for deleting personal data from the waste equipment to be disposed of.
WEEE Registration Number
In the course of implementing the ElektroG, we have registered with the Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte Register (Stiftung ear). We are registered as a manufacturer of electrical and/or electronic equipment with the Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte Register, Nordostpark 72, 90411 Nuremberg, Germany, under the registration number DE 64356963 and DE 80743468.

Labeling
The symbol of the "crossed-out wheeled bin" indicates that batteries and accumulators (together: waste batteries) must not be disposed of in unsorted municipal waste (household waste) after use.
Potential Hazards
Batteries may contain substances that are harmful to the environment and human health. Caution is required due to the specific risks associated with handling lithium-containing batteries. The separate collection and recycling of waste batteries and accumulators is intended to prevent negative impacts on the environment and human health. Batteries and accumulators that are contained in electrical appliances and can be removed without destroying them must be disposed of separately from the appliance.
In connection with the sale of batteries and accumulators, we use the services of the "Stiftung Gemeinsames Rücknahmesystem Batterien" (Foundation Common Take-Back System for Batteries). As a retailer, we are obliged under Section 18 (1) of the BattG to advise you as a customer of the following:
Obligations of the manufacturer, distributor, and end user
The end user of batteries and accumulators is obliged to return waste batteries to the designated return facilities. You can return waste batteries (which you have purchased from us or which correspond in type to the batteries from the Mercedes-Benz product range) free of charge after use to Mercedes-Benz branches, to a municipal collection point, or to local retail stores. Batteries containing harmful substances are marked with a symbol consisting of a crossed-out wheeled bin and the chemical symbol (Cd, Hg, or Pb) of the heavy metal that is decisive for the classification as containing harmful substances. Batteries containing more than 0.0005 percent by mass of mercury (Hg), more than 0.002 percent by mass of cadmium (Cd), or more than 0.004 percent by mass of lead (Pb) are marked with the respective chemical symbols of the metals (Hg, Cd, Pb) for which the aforementioned limit value is exceeded. Wherever possible, avoid the generation of waste from waste batteries. When making your selection, please look for rechargeable accumulators or batteries with a longer lifespan. Avoid littering public spaces by disposing of batteries correctly instead of leaving them carelessly.
Please consider options for reusing the battery instead of disposing of it, for example by reconditioning or repairing the battery.
Information Obligations
Under the Battery Directive, EU member states are obliged to collect data on waste batteries and transmit it to the European Commission. Further information on this can be found here (Waste batteries | BMUV).
